Asylum Allure
Artist Statement :

Asylum Allure is a captivating art piece inspired by Ophelia from Hamlet and influenced by Lady Macbeth. The terrarium-based structure—partly underwater—expresses femininity, sanity, and revenge through 3D printed flowers, real plants, gravel, laser-cut female figures, and a speaker. Plants symbolize femininity, connecting to cultural representations like Mother Nature and goddesses such as Demeter and Flora. Bright, 3D printed pink flowers emphasize beauty. A female figure will be central—laser-cut in both red and clear acrylic, with red representing loss of control and white symbolizing sanity, enhanced by LED lighting. The speaker will play siren-like angelic sounds, representing revenge. The process starts with terrarium assembly, followed by programming the LEDs and speaker. With the structure measuring 0.5m x 0.5m, the final piece will be displayed in a dark room to create an immersive underwater garden experience.
